
Instagram acknowledges that it promotes videos on purpose

The Instagram platform is currently attempting to achieve balance in the videos/reels and photographs that are displayed to viewers.
Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, acknowledges that in 2022, the platform put a deliberate emphasis on boosting reels and videos.
In response to questions from the audience, Mosseri acknowledged that It is currently attempting to strike a balance between the videos/reels and photographs that are displayed to the audience.
I believe we overemphasised video in 2022, pushed ranking too hard, and essentially displayed too many videos and not enough photos, he said.
He noted that both post kinds are currently receiving equal attention, which is proof of their labour.
Adam concurred “Photos will always play a significant role in what we do. And there will always be individuals who adore and are enthusiastic about discovering photographs on Instagram and elsewhere. And I want to be absolutely certain that we understand that.”
The Instagram CEO acknowledged that the platform’s photographers did not like efforts to convert the app to a full-screen video experience akin to TikTok.
