Instagram Users were unable to access their accounts and experienced a temporary loss of followers.
Instagram said on Monday it had fixed a software bug that prevented thousands of users from accessing the photo-sharing platform for eight hours and sparked complaints about account suspensions.
“We’ve now resolved this bug – it was making it difficult for people in different parts of the world to access their accounts and caused a temporary change in follower count for some,” Instagram-owned Meta Platforms said in a tweet. Monday.
An Instagram spokesperson did not comment on the account’s suspension. Several App users tweeted that they were asked for email IDs and phone numbers to access their suspended accounts.
From more than 7,500 reports as of 10:09 PM ET about the outage tracking website Downdetector, the number of user reports had dropped to nearly 500 by 6:00 PM ET. M. ET
Downdetector collects status reports from various sources, including errors sent by users on its platform. The outage may affect a much larger number of users. Meta shares closed 6.1% lower amid a sell-off in the stock markets.
