The founder and former CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey tweeted that he regrets that the social media platform has become a company.
Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted Thursday that he regrets the social media platform has become a business.
Dorsey tweeted in response to a question about whether Twitter has transformed the way he envisions it.
Dorsey is expected to receive $978 million if billionaire Elon Musk agrees to buy Twitter.
Asked what structure he would like Twitter to operate under, Dorsey said it should be a “protocol” and that Twitter should not be owned by another state or company.
If it were a protocol, Twitter would work like email, which is not controlled by a single central entity, and people using different email providers can communicate with each other.
Twitter is involved in multiple fights.
The company sued Musk for trying to walk away from its $44 billion offer to buy Twitter. A former executive turned whistleblower has accused Twitter of misleading federal regulators about its security measures to protect against hackers and spam accounts.
