TikTok raises the minimum age for Livestreaming and Explicit content

TikTok is committed to ensuring that the vibrant online community remains “safe, supportive and happy”.

TikTok has announced that it will increase the minimum age requirement for adult streams from 16 to 18 starting November 23. It will also add a feature to restrict specific audiences to streaming content.

The video-sharing app says, “The TikTok Foundation is built on the trust and safety of the community. To protect our users and content creators and support their well-being, we are constantly developing security measures that we put in place.”

Currently, users over 16 with at least 1,000 followers can go live from TikTok or its LIVE feature. In addition, users over the age of 18 can send and receive tips as a way to earn rewards for the posted content.

TikTok’s new adult feature aims to ensure that live streaming is meant to “protect the younger members of our community as they begin and build their online presence.”

The company plans to add updated keyword features to improve the security of live broadcasts.

It says, “Live creators can now use our keyword filter tool to limit comments they see as inappropriate. In the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out an updated version of this feature that will send a reminder to people and suggest new keywords they might consider adding to our filter list. Your”.
