What to Expect From Samsung’s Unpacked Event on August 10

It’s almost time for this year’s summer launch event: the Samsung Unpack event. On August 10 at 9 a.m. m. ET, the company is holding a Galaxy Unpacked event in August. This comes a year and a day after last year’s event focused on folding. If the reports are correct, we could expect a similar number of announcements, including a couple of foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, a new batch of smartwatches with the Galaxy Watch 5, and possibly some new headphones.

Samsung basically showed us what the foldable variant will look like in its promotional images and the official launch trailer for its launch on August 10. Additionally, Samsung’s smartphone boss teased the “new foldable Samsung Galaxy” in a blog post at the launch. We are also somewhat convinced that the Watch 5 will appear soon given the sheer volume of leaks that have occurred. We also learned about a new line of truly wireless earbuds last year, the Galaxy Buds 2, and look forward to learning about the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro this year. A major breaking leak appears to show that they are set for the same event after we saw a few builds of these earlier this month.

Over time, Samsung has used its summer launch events to launch a new generation of Galaxy Note smartphones. However, it skipped the Galaxy Note 21 launch last year entirely and announced that the brand would be discontinued earlier this year. Instead, the distinctive features of the Note range have been incorporated into the more expensive Galaxy S models, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra sporting a Note-inspired look and an integrated S Pen.

Don’t expect the Note 22 to be announced at this event, but that’s just what Samsung could offer.

SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLDED 4

With the larger tablet screen size and the portability of a traditional smartphone, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices aim to bridge that gap. That doesn’t seem to change for the fourth generation of foldable devices, which appears to have paired a 7.6-inch foldable display with a 6.2-inch cover display last year, according to a leaked list of specs shared by the Twitter leaker. Ice Universe.

SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP 4

The next model in Samsung’s foldable lineup, the Z Flip 4, is rumored to receive minor upgrades for a year. A device similar to the Flip 3 was filmed in what appear to be official press builds of the Flip 4, which was leaked by Evan Blass. At the rear, there are two cameras and a small external notification screen in a two-tone design. Internally, it looks like another punch hole will be used instead of an under-display camera.

SAMSUNG GALAXY 5 WATCH

The Galaxy Watch 5 could be the device on this list that we know more about than we can expect. It looks like this year we’ll be getting the Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro, and there’s no real rotating bezel in sight. Last year’s Watch 4 line was separated into the regular Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic (which comes with a fan-favorite rotating bezel).

SAMSUNG GALAXY BUDS PRO 2

The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 didn’t get much of a leak until this week when reports allegedly revealed official images and information about the earbuds. According to this report, the Buds Pro 2 will feature an improved active noise cancellation system that can mathematically silence “even the loudest sounds in the environment.” Additional features include IPX7 waterproofing, 10mm drivers, 360-degree audio, Bluetooth 5.3, and an eight-hour battery life that can be increased to 29 hours with a case. Since the Galaxy Buds 2 required 7.5 hours of battery life without ANC and five hours with ANC on, we’re guessing that’s eight hours of battery life without ANC.

Although Samsung announcements are often made public ahead of events like this, there’s always a chance the South Korean company has a few surprises up its sleeve. Can the company reveal new laptops? Some new smart home features for SmartThings? Or even the return of the Galaxy Home Bixby smart speakers?
