WhatsApp is expected to implement support for customizable avatars in the next Android update.

Popular messaging app WhatsApp will offer Bitmoji-style avatars after Instagram, allowing users to personalize their digital identities.

The messaging app is expected to implement support for customizable avatars in the upcoming 2.22.23.9 beta update on Android for select users.

Users expect to see a new “avatar” category in settings that they can customize on their digital copy. The app will create sticker packs featuring your avatar in different poses and expressions for a more exciting messaging experience with friends and family.

The first WABetaInfo spotted was the first to discover the feature last month, but now it’s officially rolling out to WhatsApp users. Meta did not say when it intends to roll out the feature to all Android and iOS users.

Avatars were first introduced in 2019 on Messenger and News Feed and then became available for use in comments and stories on Facebook in 2020.

Meta now turned avatars into 3D images and allowed its users to apply them from Facebook news posts and profile photos to Instagram stories.
