YouTube integrates its short songs with its music app, with a shared playlist accessible on both platforms.
TikTok competitor YouTube Shorts has announced its intention to integrate music saved on and Music into the Shorts app. Songs can also be saved to the Shorts app for later listening.
This integration is available to users by clicking the audio icon in the bottom right corner, directing users to a page where the song has been used in other short films.
The Save button on the page can allow users to visit the song on YouTube or Music in a playlist called Sounds of Shorts.
Songs from YouTube or YouTube Music can be saved for use in short videos from the same playlist.
The Company has a full repository of video and music streaming services, giving it an edge over TikTok, which doesn’t allow such integration.
However, ByteDance has been waiting for the streaming service to work in the future. The parent company already filed a trademark application with the US Patent and Trademark Office in May for a service called “TikTok Music.” The mobile app will potentially allow users to buy, stream, share and download music.
Last year, TikTok released a report listing 175 songs that were popular on the platform and eventually made it to the Billboard Top 100.
